Kidney Failure

Kidney Failure

The kidneys are bean-shaped organs, each about 10 centimeters (4 inches) long. They are positioned in the back of the body behind the lower ribs. A healthy kidney is basically a filtering system. In fact, each kidney is made up of about a million filtering units called nephrons. As blood passes through the kidneys, it is "cleaned" - the body's waste products and excess fluid are removed. These waste products, along with the excess fluid, are then sent through the ureters to the bladder. Then they are passed out of the body as urine.

Shock Wave Lithotripsy

Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) is a type of treatment for kidney and ureteric stones. High energy shock waves are applied and delivered externally through the skin to aid breakage of the stones into smaller pieces allowing spontaneous passage through the ureter (water pipe connecting the kidney to the bladder) without the need for General Anaesthesia and with less complications in comparison to other urological procedures to treat kidney stones. The procedure is performed as a day case. This technique is preferred in suitable patients with stones less than 2 cm.

Laser Skin Services

Excimer lasers are used to treat mild-to-moderate psoriasis, vitiligo and dermatological conditions (Atopic Dermatitis, Acne and Alopecia Areata and other inflammatory dermatitis). Excimer lasers can treat vitiligo more effectively, safely, and conveniently than topical creams. Patients treated with the Excimer laser system achieve greater repigmentation than with any other present vitiligo therapy. It reduces treatment duration more than any other machines, higher penetration with fast results. Excimer laser aims a high intensity ultraviolet Blight dose of a very specific wavelength 308 nanometers” directly at the psoriasis plaques. Because the laserlight never touches the surrounding skin, it reduces the risk of UV radiation exposure.
